I began creating handmade cotton fabric birds and love bird Wedding Cake Toppers in 2006. These cute little birds inspired my business name. ‘Cotton Bird Designs, With a small stock of handmade birds I set up my online shop.
Online sales took off and soon little cotton birds started flying out to their new homes all over the world! Many were featured in magazines, books, blogs and gallery exhibitions along with other works. I continue making cotton fabric birds, textile houses, paper boats and other mixed media sculpture to custom order.
When making Wedding Cake Topper Love Birds I handmade miniature flowers for the bride birds, this developed into custom order requests for matching flowers for Bridal head pieces, dress sash flowers, Wedding Bouquets, Boutonnieres and Table Decor. This then led to repeat custom for anniversary flowers. These flowers are handmade using paper, cotton, linen and leather which make them a perfect traditional gift for a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Wedding Anniversary!
